My husband and September 11

I am a peace officer's wife. My DH takes all of the physical, emotional, and spiritual brunt of his job; he goes in knowing he may need to give his life to protect a stranger, he'll do it no questions asked. On the job, he stands strong. An officer is on duty 24/7. It is not a job left behind when he checks off. It is ingrained in his very being. This is the life of a peace officer.

I am proud of my officer and of being married to law enforcement. It's pretty much a family affair and the extra hours and worries can take a toll. But I know my situation takes a toll on him as well and he tries to make it seem like it's ok. The continuous surgeries, my trips back and forth to New York, Ehlers-Danlos constantly wreaking havoc; it just builds up.

On this day especially, I want our police officers out there to know how grateful I am. It isn't said enough. You are a special people.

And to my own special officer...you know how I am with songs. ;) Thank you for what you do...for me...for us...for those you don't even know. I think we've done pretty darn well against all this. All we can do, is the best we can, together. It's been an uphill battle but we're still going. Woof!

As I'm sittin' in the taxi for the sky
He's off to slay some demon dragonfly
And he looks at me, that long last time
Turns away again and I waved goodbye

But darling, I wish you well
On your way to the wishing well
Swinging off of those gates of hell
But I can tell how hard you're trying
Just have this secret hope
Sometimes all we do is cope
Somewhere on the steepest slope
There's an endless rope
And nobody's crying

May you dream you are dreaming, in a warm soft bed
And may the voices inside you that fill you with dread
Make the sound of thousands of angels instead
