My dad just got out of surgery. He cracked multiple vertebrae so they replaced a bunch of them but I don't know yet which ones. No update yet on his shoulder.
Thank you for the prayers. I'll update again when I can but at least the surgery is over!

Emergency prayer request
Hi everyone. I know a lot of people that read here pray, and for those that don't could I tap into your positive thoughts for a bit?
I just got the call that my dad took a really bad fall while working on their pool and is about to go into emergency spinal cord surgery. I was able to talk to him for just a moment a minute ago. He dislocated a shoulder and did some pretty bad damage to several vertebrae immediately above where he's already had his spine worked on.
He's over 6'4" so not a small man, and he falls hard! I am confident my CM is his from his side of the family and yet he refuses to be checked. He has had multiple failed surgeries (spine, nerve damage, etc) and also will not have my 11 year old sister screened despite being an obvious EDSer. Denial can be ugly and I'm concerned about the potential for complications with this surgery because of lack of accurate diagnoses and understanding.
Thanks. I'll update when I can.

Phone tag, I'm not it
I've been having difficulty with playing phone tag with the cardiothoracic surgeon. I tried again around 30 minutes ago. His assistant actually answered, and admitted she thought the dr was going to call me so she never followed through to see what the notes said (if he wanted her to call me, was she to set up the last couple of tests as pre-op, or go ahead and book for surgery). She again apologized (isn't THAT getting old) and said she was going to wave it in front of his face and ask for "specific" details on what to do.
Sigh. Onto another day.

Appendix update, and countdown to New York
I saw the appendectomy surgeon Monday. My sutures are out, the three incisions look pretty good, and by some miracle they are all still closed. The surgeon said no one in the anesthesia department wanted to take my case when they found out how many brain and spine surgeries I've had, but it being an emergency surgery, they knew someone had to jump in there but she said it went really well. I had to laugh when she said if I ever need a general surgeon again to let her know because she would be glad to operate on me again. I couldn't help but giggle and thank her for what she did but that to be honest, I hope to never see her again!
At this time next week I'll be in New York, anxious for news the next day will bring. I pray for God to help me keep my thoughts straight so I can make the best possible decisions. DH isn't talking about it, and my children are too young still to really understand. I hope whatever choices I make, they will come to understand as they grow and mature.
