Mortal sin?

Do you think suicide is a straight path to Hell?

Or could it be possible that God, in infinite wisdom seeing into our very being, understands the desperation in which a person may end things on their own timetable instead of that of God's? Would he take us into his arms, forgiving and accepting us to stay with him forever, knowing how impossible a task it was to just sit and breathe through non-stop pain, trying to get through the endless day?

Is it really suicide when someone living in a cloud of confusion caused by relentless pain takes too much medication, not being able to remember their last dose of meds? Does God understand taking one extra dose that can be the very end was simply an act filled with the one remaining sliver of hope of getting even a minuscule amount of pain relief?

Will God accept us with our mortal mistake and let us live and love him at his side forever? Or will we be banished to Hell?

Would that Hell be any worse than the pain we have here?

  3. While I pray that your question is hypothetical, knowing the pain that you are in makes me concerned. I know that no one lives in a vacuum--when someone takes their own life, they end up impacting countless other lives, especially their immediate families' lives--spouse, children, parents, siblings, etc. Whether you believe in hell (which I do) or not, the pain and emotional scarring left behind for others will impact them for the rest of their lives. Again, I pray that your question is hypothetical. Regardless, I'm here anytime you want to contact me. You and your family stay in my prayers. Leslie www.wittybigbrain.blogspot.com

  4. In this world there are only 2 classes of people, those that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
    John 3:36

If you will compare this verse with John 3:16 you will find that those who those believeth on the Son hath everlasting life and shall not perish. If it is every lasting life, it can't be lost, if it could be lost them it could not be every lasting life and we could not trust the Bible.

Besides that, there is only one sin that will condemn a person to hell, that cannot be forgiven, that is not believing on the Son, Jesus Christ.

37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
    John 6:37

In the above verse we find that any who have been saved will not be cast out.

39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
    John 6:39

And all who have believed, none will be lost and all of them will be raised up at the last day.

So no, the only mortal sin is not having Jesus as ones Savior. The person who does not have Jesus as their Savior will have to pay their own sin debt by spending eternity in the lake of fire.

So any serious Bible student that is led by the holy Spirit in studying the Bible will come to the conclusion that the only mortal sin is the one who rejects or fails to accept the salvation offered them, that wonderful gift that God will give to anyone who will accept it, of course it comes by grace thru faith in Jesus Christ, not of works, not of self, it is a gift.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    Eph 2:8-9 (KJV)

15 But not as the offence, so also is the "free gift." For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
    Romans 5:15

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the "gift" of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    Romans 6:23

And of course God's will is that all would be saved, but He forces salvation on no one, it is each person individual choice, of course the one who never makes a choice, they will be cast into the lake of fire.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
    2 Peter 3:9

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
    1 Tim 2:4 (

And of course the only way to the Father and heaven is thru Jesus.

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
    John 14:6

I hope this helps. If I can be of further help please let me know, I'll surely try my best in giving you some answers.

  5. I might add, that suicide is a sin against our God, one thing we surely would not want to do is sin against our God, the One who has offered His Son on the cross to pay our sin debt that we might have eternal life. Let us remember what jesus went thru in order to save us from our sins, He freely suffered on the cross to pay our sin debt. thos who led Him to the cross were not in control that day, Jesus was in full control, he did this freely, no one took His life, but he freely laid it donw that we might have everylsting life.

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
    John 10:14-18

There is no doubt in my mind that God will offer us the grace that we need to get thru anything that comes our way. Remember Paul.

7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
    2 Cor 12:7-10

This thorn brought Paul much misery, but we know that God offered Paul grace to deal with this, and will that grace Paul was able to deal with this thorn and go on and on preaching the Word of God.
Strength, that is what we need, our Christ will give it to us.

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
    Phil 4:13

With the strength Christ, the Lamb of God will give us, we can do anything and overcome anything, as for me, Christ is what has got me thru the years of dealing with Chiari Malformation and the effects it has had on my life.

Also, He will supply our every need.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
    Phil 4:19

Strength and needs is something God has been very generous with towards me, I feel assured He will do the same thing for you, just call upon Him, served Him everyday of you life. The reward we shall get for following Jesus.

24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
    Matt 16:24

Yes, following Jesus, denying our self, having Jesus as our Savior, the rewards will be great.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
    Rev 21:4

So let us completely deny self, resist sin, follow our Jesus, them remember everyday of our life that the best is yet to come, we do not have doom and gloom in front of us, but the reward of spending eternity in heaven with God and our Savior Jesus.

So lets make use of all the time our Lord gives us to serve Him in this life and do as Paul did, win souls to Christ, where they will not have doom and gloom in front of them but will look forward to everlasting life in heaven.

  6. Keesha,
My heart aches when I read you post. . .so much pain...

In the early 70s ( when I was in nursing school, I had a patient who was dying of advanced breast cancer, in intractable pain, and only in her 40s. she had no family, and next to no visitors. Caring for her was very difficult due to the erosions of large areas of skin at the site of her cancer. No one wanted to enter her room, due to the odor of dead flesh that became part and parcel of the last few months of her life.

This woman taught me something I hope never to forget. . . she ( and then I) believed that God put us all on this earth to teach someone something. We may not know who it is or what we have to impart, but that we are not released from this earth until that duty has been fulfilled. So many times during the course of my professional life, I have looked at a baby, profoundly impaired, and wondered why God permitted suffering in this innocent child to continue. And I always came back to that question.. what did he or she have to teach?? To make us better nurses? To be better able to help the parents? To teach someone proficient trach care? Maybe the lesson was to the family, or the docs, or the nursing staff... maybe a member of another family, who happened to overhear a conversation that they needed to hear...we never knew, but were able to take enough strength from the question to continue to care for the child(ren).

I cannot begin to imagine your pain, but I see the good that you accomplish through your charity crochet, your website, and the maintenance of the message board at ASAP. And I think you have a great deal to teach us... maybe about pain, or disability or maybe even about compassion, and generosity of spirit.

I pray for painfree time for you. Maureen

  7. Quite frankly I'm not suprised to read your post. Most people I know would have ended their life long ago. While I would hate to see you leave this world, I would certainly understand.

The God I read about in the Bible says we are all His children and nothing can sepparate us from His love.

  8. Keesha,

God NEVER sends or banishes anyone to Hell, they CHOOSE to go. The problem is the despair.

You are carrying such a heavy cross, God obviously loves you very much. The why's are not visible, but there is ALWAYS a greater good. I and all 8 of our children have ACM/EDS/TCS blah, blah, blah.

Our 13 yr old suffers much like you. She's had the de-tethering but still needs the decompression/fusion, and has early onset osteo-arthritis along with type 1 diabetes and she had a stroke at 5 yrs. When she wakes up in the morning I'll tell her about you and knowing her, she'll offer her sufferings for you. Maybe you can get a bit of relief.

We have to stick together with this mess, and pray one another through this the hardest of your time in the battle.

Please know we will pray and offer our sufferings for YOU.

  14. The teaching of Eternal Security("Once Saved Always Saved") is VERY debateable and it's not a very appropiate time to share with someone who may or may not be entertaining thoughts of suicide.

Keesha, please don't lose Hope and your Trust in the Lord. We serve a Faithful God. By His grace, I KNOW he will see you through this.

My Pastor preached a message called "Passing through the Valley of Weeping" based off Psalm 84 that you can listen to at www.LGChurch.com
I believe it will encourage you.

    May the Lord bless you.

  15. I had a dozen health issues this past fall and was overwhelmed. Even w/ that, I can't comprehend what you are dealing with. All I know is that if you choose to leave, you will miss out on God's blessings for you and your family.

I'm 40 and single w/ no kids. When I read about your amazing husband and kids... I actually feel jealous... you have so much, even w/ the pain. Focus on God and your family. They need you everyday no matter what, they need you.

    We are praying for you.

  16. I have been asking myself the same exact questions, and if Sharon didnt need me so much right now, I feel like I might give up. BUT... she does. And she needs your friendship too. And so do I. But, you know that I cant judge you. I cannot begin to start to imagine how it is to have the headache every day, but I do know what it is to have a gut ache every day, and I dont think I can do this very much longer. either. Love Bobby, not the liver
